slope rocking chair by Christian Troels & Jonas Birkebæk
The Slope Rocking Chair is a modern take on the traditional rocking chair. Denmark has a strong heritage of furniture using flat steel profiles, so a part of the concept was to take very traditional materials and add a more modern and fun shape.
The name Slope comes from the distinctive sloped armrests.
The Slope Rocking Chair is a part of a concept family of furniture also consisting of a lounge chair, a office chair, a bar chair and and a dining chair.
Materials: Seat frame of powder coated steel tubes. The seat is braided from belts of ox leather.
The armrests are made from flat stainless steel profiles.
Danish design is of course great attention to detail and beautiful combinations on materials and craftsmanship. Danish designers throughout time have always been able to keep up with time, continuing to challenge new materials and production methods. But maybe the most important task for danish designers today is to continue to tell new stories through innovative products in all price ranges. It is important that we constantly challenge peoples minds about what danish design is and letting them decide for themselves.
